Dive team conducting proactive exercise today

Trafford neighbourhood officers have today joined the North West Police underwater search and marine unit as they conduct a proactive training operation near to Salford Quays in Manchester.

The dive unit, made up of 12 officers from six different police forces, are a specialist team trained to undertake wide and varied activity including recovery of bodies from water, security and evidential searches.

The activity taking place today was part of Operation Sceptre, a dedicated week of action targeting knife crime as the dive unit looked for weapons in the canal.
